With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

implementing variable height pages using HTML and CSS

I've been porting a site from TABLES to DIVS. Being new to this I went for fixed DIVS as that seemed to be easier.

Oh boy, now I know why YesSiirNoSir (YSNS) was talkiing about varialbe height borders!

I've just realised that some pages on this site are TALLER than the fixed postion size I've given the index page.

Well I went back and implremented the variable borders trick YSNS showed me before, not working fully yet

...but BIGGER problem is dealing with the bottom of the pages

I took some of the properties from YSNS's fix for borders ( min-height:100%; height:auto) and am trying to apply them to the larger containers (#CR_maincontainer, #CR_container - a smaller one for the "white space" I added today) without really understanding them.

Off to read float-based layout in "CSS: The Missing Manual" - not convinced I'll find what i need there. Maybe some kind soul can ease my pain ?
