Asked by: Sariff

Experts -

I am having issues with CSS in IE6 and IE7. The attached image shows what the problem(s) look like. I am not sure how to fix the CSS to get the Nav bar to appear correctly, along with the rest.

#Nav {
	width:954px;
	margin:auto;
	padding:0px 0 0 0px;
}
ul#Nav {
	width:950px; height: 30px; margin:5px auto; margin-left:28px;
	list-style:none;
}
ul#Nav li a{
	height: 30px; float:left; display:block;
	background-image:url(images/Nav_sprite.png); text-indent: -9999px;
}
ul#Nav li a.Home{width: 107px; background-position: -2px 0px;}
ul#Nav li a.Home:hover{background-position: -2px -31px;}

ul#Nav li a.Instructors{width: 125px; background-position: -109px 0px;}
ul#Nav li a.Instructors:hover{background-position: -109px -31px;}

There's no image?

by: wilson1000Posted on 2009-09-04 at 04:27:42ID: 25258432

Can't see the image to note the issue but add a line-height declaration to ul#Nav that matches your height, make sure you do the same for ul#Nav li a:

line-height: 30px;

oh... and IE doesn't render negative values very well if sometimes at all, you might need a workaround.

Let me know how you get on

Regards

This is where the image is being loaded

ul#Nav li a{
	height: 30px; float:left; display:block;
	background-image:url(images/Nav_sprite.png); text-indent: -9999px;
}

you removed the height property and value from ul#Nav? - you need to put this back and also add line-height:30px  to the ul#Nav li a

by: SariffPosted on 2009-09-04 at 04:59:54ID: 25258631

I have those properties...its still not right...

ul#Nav {
	width:950px; line-height: 30px; height: 30px; margin:5px auto; margin-left:28px;
	list-style:none;

}

ul#Nav li a{
	height: 30px;  line-height: 30px; float:left; display:block;

Hang on... take the line-height off of the ul#Nav and place a float on the list element:

ul#Nav ul li {

 float: left;

}

by: SariffPosted on 2009-09-04 at 05:31:40ID: 25258826

Does the order of the properties play a part? Does the float:left need to be first?

by: wilson1000Posted on 2009-09-04 at 05:33:18ID: 25258834

You seem to have overloaded the tag.

Copy and paste the code below...

ul#Nav li {
float:left;
}
