Css correction

Hello .

The div class of the center container is not growing according to the content Please help .

Also please suggest any corrections for a better UI

firstly you need to correct a number of issues that are in the HTML like

line 27 - No end tag for img
line 40 - HTML is: <td width=\"$columnWidth%\" align=\"center\">


go to

http://validator.w3.org/

and enter your URL and then correct the HTML, it is possible that some of your issues will be rectified
if not come back once the page valiadtes and we can look again.

it is a css problem . That is clear . Correcting validator errors is at last once u have completed the page . Nobody does that completing the page .

I disagree,

Often placement issues are to do with incorrect HTML it is better to get the HTML structure right first and then concentrate on the styling.

the div #layer2 has a specified height which will be restricting it. try using 100%

Also the background image is a fixed size so that won't resiz either. You need to make the lines at the bottom seperate and put them into a footer so that it will move up and down too.

height:100% usually gives a wrong issue in some browser, better use - overflow:visible;

I removed the layer2 background image and also removed the hieght option it works for some pages

like http://ecstacyjewels.com/ and http://ecstacyjewels.com/aboutus.php and others again extra height is comming . How can i proceed ?

The extra height appears to be coming from the background div which has the height set at 768px you could now set that so it only shows the top bar, in other words about 140px.

I use a combination of firebug and the webdevelopers toolbar add on in firefox by chris pederick

http://chrispederick.com/

With firebug, often the easiest way (I find) is with the 'inspect element' tool ( on my firebug toolbar it is a small rectangle with an arrow in the bottom of it) and then playing around with the CSS over in the right hand pane.
