I basically want to add a <more> or [more] tag to the source code when the button is clicked. I plan to use this to break the content into two sections if used.

I'm not terribly familiar with FCKEditor and it's workings so I'll throw this out there: Are you dead set on using FCKEditor? There's a free WYSIWYG editor called TinyMCE that is a breeze to use and has plenty of documentation to do exactly the kind of stuff you're talking about.
