Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. CF If statement to say 'Thanks Message received' once INSERT has taken place

I have a contact form which i want to INSERT INTO my db then i want the user to be returned to the orriginal contact page wiith a message saying something like 'Thanks Message Received'

What i dont want to do is create another page that the user is redirected to. i want it to be the same contact page. so i'm thinkg a CF IF statement that would say something like....

IF contact details are inserted then display 'Thanks Message Received'

I really am a beginner with this so if there is anyone avble to help please explain in detail. thanks
