Add argument to Bind Expression in coldfusion

How can I pass the variable 'courseID' to the CFC thru the bind attribute seen here.

In other words, I want the courseID to be sent to the cfc as method argument.

just add it in the arguments you pass:

bind="cfc:components.cas.getSections({cfgridpage}, {cfgridpagesize}, {cfgridsortcolumn}, {cfgridsortdirection}, courseID)"

Ah so can your clarify for me when to use curly braces and when not?

iirc, curly braces are used to pass form controls values (i.e. values that may change based on user input) and the ajax control's built-in variables (like cfgridpage etc in case of cfgrid control). hope i am correct on this :)

It doesn't seem to be working.  I get no results in the ajaxgrid. I've posted a test of cfinvoke that does work.

1) use firefox+firebug to see what js errors are thrown, if any.
2) try using cf ajax debugger to see if it shows any errors thrown - enable ajax debugging in cf administrator and add ?cfdebug to the url of your page to show the debugger window
3) datasource="#this.dsn#" in your cfc function - in my experience, this.dsn does not work with remote (ajax) calls and bindings... try and change that to actual name of your dsn instead of a variable and see if it works

and this is what your bind expression should look like:

bind="cfc:components.cas.getSections({cfgridpage},{cfgridpagesize},{cfgridsortcolumn},{cfgridsortdirection},#courseID#)"

note the # around your cf variable. and if your courseID var was a string, you would also need to enclose it in single quotes.
