Conditional Opening of a form in a new window

I have a Cold Fusion form with two buttons. I want the form to function so that if one of the buttons is pressed, the form remains in place, but the action page opens in a new window  where the form fields are read and additional processing occurs . If the other button is pressed, I want the form to disappear and pass control to its action page. Please note that the purpose of the action page in both options is to upload a file that is selected on the intial page. In one case (new window) the action page simply checks the file format. In the other case, data in the file is loaded into a database.  Thank you
