The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Displaying Graphics in a Flex Container

Asked by gis-jedi in Adobe Flex, Web Graphics Software, Macromedia Flash

Hi,

I'm trying to display a map made out of vectors (lines and polygons) in a Flex 2.0 application. The user should be able to use the mouse to scroll around the map (think click-and-drag in Google Maps), which would be moving some parent sprite that contains the vectors within a Flex component. They should also be able to click on polygons on the map. There are two problems I am running into:

1.) I tried drawing Sprite vectors in a Panel, however the Sprites are not clipped to the bounds of the Panel when I use negative values or values greater than the Panel size. I'm adding the Sprites to a parent Sprite which is added to the Panel's raw children. I read this from a post on some webpage: "The downside of adding sprites as raw children is that the Flex framework will not clip them, and acts as if it has no knowledge of them (ie they dont scroll etc)." What is the best way to draw sprites in a Flex container? Is there some non-Flex container that I can draw the vectors in to perform the clip, which I then add to the Panel?

2.) I want the Panel to fill 80% of the screen, but I also want to know how big the Panel is in pixels.

Any help toward solving these two issues would be greatly appreciated!Start Free Trial
