In looking at the Flex 3 documentation, it looks like something based on FocusManager might do the trick but that's as far as I got.

Hi guys the solution mentioned does not work but the irony is the code is right but it works for older version .Go in the project properties and compiler setting .Change the version and select radio button USE specific SDK and select flex 2.0.1 HotFix 3.0 and apply.And see the code working.
So this solution is for older version .There should be a patch for this .

Focus manager is indeed the way you can make this work. getNextFocusManagerCompone nt has an optional argument (backward = true or false) that pushes it backwards in the collection of UI elements.
