Browse All TopicsThis one has to be fairly obvious, but I am very rusty in flex. I am trying to loop through all the reports in my this.reports ArrayCollection and export it into an excel sheet that is popped up for the user. I think I know how I want to tackle looping the ArrayCollection, but I can't get a basic excel sheet to pop up.
I know I am not telling it to open, just creating it, but how would I open my xls:ExcelFile in a new browser tab (or open excel and view the file).
Here is the plugin I am using if needed:

This seems pretty basic, but again, pretty rusty/bad at flex. :)

I'm not familure with as3xls/ but by the looks of things you need to save the file back to the server.
(or whatever it's called).
You'd also need a seperate page with a flex file running the viewer; probably taking a filename as a url argument.
After creating the file, call a link to the page viewer.html?generatedfile1
You can advise it to open in a new window, but tabbing is at the browsers discression.

As an alternative, it may be simpler to put your application inside a tab navigator and the viewer in another tab if that would better fit your needs.
