Question

Insert HTML file into Outlook 2003

Asked by: Freja_UK

I have created an HTML file (newsletter) in Dreamweaver that I would like to send out as an email. However, everytime I try to insert the file it will only show as an attachment, and not the content of my HTML file directly in the email. Another user here was very helpfull and gave me the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/office/office2000/maintain/featusability/olglance.mspx#EHAA

But that is for Ol 2000 and not 2003. Can anyone help me to how I insert my file into Outlook 2003?

Thanks

have you tried opening the HTML file in a browser, hitting Ctrl A for select all, then copying and pasting into an open Outlook email?

Pasting the source code will not work, but if you open the html file in Word and then paste it into the message, it'll work.
This will also reformat the HTML to an "office format".

>>Pasting the source code will not work,

not sure if that was supposed to refer to my comment, but I never said to paste the source code.

1. Open a html in a browser
2. Select All and the Copy the selection
3. Open Outlook 2003 -> New Message
4. Make sure format for Outgoing message is "HTML"
5. Paste the selection.

Do not select  the source code, select the page as you view in browser.

pravinasar,

very nicely how you took my EXACT answer and put numbered the steps....I understand you are new to EE but that is pretty rude.

I used to create email signatures in HTML and have them inserted into outlook emails... this is what I did:

I copied the HTML to the clipboard, changed the email format in Outlook to HTML.  In signatures, I made a new signature... which will now by default be made in html. Put something in the signature like your name. When you see the list of signatures click on the one you just made and it will preview in the pane bellow. Right click on the pane and select view source. It pops up the HTML source. Paste your HTML code here, click save in the note pad window and exit notepad. In the preview pane you will now have your HTML document.

Come right out of all that and then insert the new signature you just made.

Let me know how you get on.

I am still struggeling. I did try the copy/paste option and I can get that to work. Out of principle I would still like to know if there isn't anyway to insert properly as we could using Outlook 2000.

If that it not an option, I will accept the answer from brunobear, as that sort of worked.

Freja,

The link you provided above is not a way to make the HTML actually show in the email - it's simply the way to attach a file to the email - you can still do that in Outlook 2003.  The other way to actually SEND an HTML email, if it's the same as it used to be in older versions, is to set it up as stationary in Outlook.

Tools > Options > Mail Format > Stationary Picker > New > use this file as a template

and then select your HTML file.
