I'm having trouble with the SM (sevice mark) used in html text. I am not aware of a special character so my options seem to be to either make it <sup>SM</sup>, which throws off the line-height I have assigned to the text or use a graphic,. The graphic looks great but again throws off the line height, effectively removing any extra spacing I had added in through the style sheet. I really need the text to be properly spaced vertically.

Thanks for your suggestion. While that does help the leading/line spacing it makes the SM look faint and blurry.

I think the graphic version looks the best but the line spacing is still a problem.

The graphic may look fine, but it's going to screw up the line spacing even more than the <sup> code would.
Play with the <sup> style settings, and remember -- it will NOT look the same for everybody. That's the whole idea. Somebody who needs a larger type size will get everything resized proportionally. With a graphic, no matter what they do, the graphic won't resize.

Define the <sup> tag. Set the size smaller than the default. I usually use 60-75%, depending on how the rest of the page is set up.
