The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

How does URL get sent?

Asked by 894359 in Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), Web Browsers, Internet Explorer Web Browser

I'm trying to figure out how a URL is getting sent from the browser. Here is the situation, if you look at:

http://eastore.ea.com/servlet/ControllerServlet?Action=DisplayHomePage&SiteID=ea&Locale=en_US&Env=BASE&sourceid=myTest

You'll see three thumbnails in the big gray box on the webpage (Spore, DeadSpace and Warhammer). If you mouse over them you'll see that onclick they will pass a tab value as a href URL value. The main promo will change based on the selection. So for Spore for example, if you watch the status bar:

http://eastore.ea.com/servlet/ControllerServlet?Action=DisplayHomePage&SiteID=ea&Locale=en_US&Env=BASE&sourceid=myTest

 would become:

http://eastore.ea.com/servlet/ControllerServlet?Action=DisplayHomePage&SiteID=ea&Locale=en_US&Env=BASE&sourceid=myTest#tab_108090800

 because the anchor is:

<a href="#tab_108090800" ...

What I don't understand is how this URL is being captured by our external web analytics db since the browser does NOT make a HTTP request for internal linking ? Only thing I can think off is users could possibly be right-clicking on the images and selecting "open URL in new window" but I'm seeing far too many instances of this to believe that is the case! Do some browsers possibly repost the updated URL to their selves making a new HTTP request? I'm at a loss and perplexed! Any ideas?
