equivalent of notepad on a MAC

I need to tweak an html file. It's so simple that I don't need Dreamweaver to load up. On my PC I used to just use notepad and save as .htm in lieu of .txt

Is there a similar program on the MAC? I'm new to MAC

There are tools like Mac Notepad 8.0 or xPad

But I think the most suitable for what you need is TextWrangler which can be found here http://www.barebones.com/products/textwrangler/
You can also compare TextWrangler vs BBEdit at the bottom of the page and check which suits you more

TextEdit is the Mac equivalent of Notepad.

Thanks Dave. When I open the html file, It's showing like a webpage. It doesn't show the actual code.
Oh.  I use Bluefish on my Linux boxes, it's intended as a programmer's editor, works pretty well.  There's a Mac version of it.  http://bluefish.openoffice.nl/
And here's a page showing how to make TextEdit a plain text editor.

textwrangler maybe?
There used to be one called SimpleText... But I believe it is now TextEdit...
Awesome thanks. It also worked to change the filename to filename.txt instead of filename.htm

Take care!
