The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. MYSQL Update with linking tables - Part 2

My question is the same, however, now instead of updating a group of products within a category by a fixed percentage, I need to update the product options within a given product.  Basically I now have to edit modifiers that change the overall price of a product.

Example: You can buy a wooden chair for $10.  If you want a leather cover for it, you'd have to add $5 to it., etc.

Everything is the same, except, one thing... the field that I need to increase, isn't completely an integer/float.

For whatever reason, the shipping cart will put a + (plus sign) in front of the price if the modifier is to be added to the overall price, and will put a - (minus sign) next to the modifier if the price is less if the modifier applied.

Is there any way that I can strip out the +/- signs within my UPDATE query, or will I have to collect the data, strip it out, apply the increase, then add the +/- back in, then Update?

The problem I will have with the second approach is that there will be a lot of looping involved and I'll probably have to use arrays.Start Free Trial
