image size dimensions

Hi, I have some problems with dimensions of files being uploaded. When I upload a file that is 1000 x 1000 and is 1.5 mb's, there are no problems. But if I try to upload an image that is 3000 x 3000 and is 760 kb, it will not upload. Anyone have any answers as to why this would be and how I can fix this.
