The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

PHP MYSQL: How to check for keywords and insert code from a MySQL database based on the keywords?

Asked by gingera in PHP and Databases, PHP Scripting Language, MySQL Server

Tags:

Hello,

I would like to search a field/column in TABLE 1 for keywords contained in TABLE 2. And insert a value into TABLE 1 from TABLE 2, based on what keywords have been found. How do I write a PHP script to do that?

-------------------
TABLE 1
-------------------
Field 1: Contents
Field 2: Code

Field 1:
Johnny Depp is back... (Note: Name is always initial capped)
Diva Demi Moore marries again... (Note: Name does not appear as the 1st word)
Johnny Depp and Jane Fonda do yoga... (Note: 2 names)

-------------------
TABLE 2
-------------------
Field 1: Name
Field 2: Code

Field 1:
Johnny Depp
Jane Fonda
Demi Moore

Field 2:
152
613
731

So, the PHP script will search Field 1 of TABLE 1 for the names in Field 1 of TABLE 2. If a name is found in Field 1 of TABLE 1, the Code(s) from TABLE 2 will be inserted into Field 2 of TABLE 1. If more than 1 name is found in a field, the Codes inserted will be separated by | (pipe).

Note the name can appear at the beginning, middle or end in Field 1 of TABLE 1.
