Question

PHP odbc_connect error

Asked by: 4county

Warning: odbc_connect() [function.odbc-connect]: SQL error: Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 1114 (Oracle in OraClient10g_home1)., SQL state IM003 in SQLConnect in C:\Intranet\site\employee\empprofile2.php on line 44
Connection Failed:

I have a php script using the $conn=odbc_connect('DB','username','password'); I had this working perfectly on an old server. I recently setup a new server and moved everything over. When I execute the script I get the above error. The odbc connection is setup and tested it and it works fine. It's just the php script returns the above error. I believe it is a path issue but I have checked everything and can't figure it out.

any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Have you got the same ODBC driver for Oracle? Same version, configuration, etc.?

Check the registry keys HKLM/Software/ODBC for differences in the configuration (just in case additional entries exist which are not accessible via UI).

yes....ODBC drivers are the same....everything is the same....Just simply moved it from one server the another...all the other PHP scripts work fine...just the odbc_connect function doesn't seem to work. I googled the SQL error 1114 and that error means that a certain .dll file can't be located. So i assume that it's a path issue but I can't figure out what.

And you created the DSN entry the same?

If it IS a path issue, the load FileMon or ProcMon (from http://live.sysinternals.com).

If you can create a simple command line script which fails, then you MAY get an easier debug experience.

At the command line, type ...

php -d display_startup_errors=1 -m

to show a list of modules.

Any errors?

If so, get FileMon/ProcMon to watch php.exe and see what DLL is "NOT FOUND".

I ran the command script and this is what it returned. ( I attached an image).

I didn't see any error's.

Excellent.

Now run this from the command line ...

php -r "var_dump($conn=odbc_connect('DB','username','password'));"

changing DB, username and password to their appropriate values.

by: 4countyPosted on 2009-09-03 at 08:27:48ID: 25251685

after running the var_dump I received the following:

resource(4) of type (odbc link)

So, PHP _can_ connect using the odbc_connect.

OOI, you are running these tests on the server you are having a problem with aren't you? Not on YOUR desktop?

A few more tests.

At the command line ...

php --ini

and on the server, I would like to see the configuration ini file for ...

<?php phpinfo();

What I'm looking for is the name of INI files used. Making sure that any edits that have been done are to the appropriate file.

You can have a different ini file for each major/minor/release-status and SAPI of PHP.  Which does make for an interesting debugging experience when people HAVe setups which utilise different ini files in this manner (running PHP4.4.9, 5.3.0, 5.3.1-dev and 6.0.0-dev on the same server is a fun task to setup!).

thanks for all your info....but come to find out it was a oracle driver installation problem...the driver was installing successfully but it was some config issues on the oracle side.
