Using Javascript to call to a PHP file

I need to know how to use javascript to call to a php file which would echo out dynamic content.

For example...

If I have a php file at domain.com/phpfile.php

And in that file I have something like:

<?php
$id = $_GET['id'];

$content = get_content($id,1);

function get_content($id,$x) {
if($x = 1) {
$this = 1;
} else {
$this = 0;
}
$content = "This is my content and X = ".$this;
return $content;
}

echo($content);
?>

How would I call to that file from a totally different website using javascript so that the content can be printed out on my desired page?

How would I use javascript to call to that php file and get the contents so they can be echoed out on my destination page...like this for example:
<script src="http://www.domain.com/phpfile.php?id=100"></script>

Any ideas?
