The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

EasyPHP and SSL: how to get SSL to work on EasyPHP/PHP on Windows

Asked by koudry in PHP for Windows, Apache Web Server, Secure Socket Layer (SSL) & HTTPS

Tags: , , , , ,

Dear colleagues,

I recently installed EasyPHP (which contains Apache, PHP and MySQL) on my Windows Vista Home Basic desktop PC.

All 3 components are working very well together and I have added ActivePerl 5.10 as well to work with the Apache web server.  I have also managed to use e-mail relay and database connectivity to MySQL with relative ease.

The next thing I would like to do, is to use SSL with PHP on the Apache web server.  I can't seem to find the right documents and tutorial to help me started.

I had a look at the "Apache Module mod_ssl" documentation @ http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/mod_ssl.html but I found it a little bit overwhelming. I know there is also mention of OpenSSL but I don't know how all these glue together. So I am a little bit confused.  Below are some questions:

(1) What are the main components required to setup SSL on EasyPHP?

(2) Is there a step-by-step guide somewhere to instruct on the configurations required, what directives to configure etc?

(3) Is there a simple SSL and PHP tutorial somewhere to get me started?

The ultimate objective is that, I want to write an e-Commerce application and CMS with PHP and Perl both running on the Apache web server and using the MySQL database.

If you can help, I will be very grateful.

Many thanks in advance.
