I have two database tables with the same structure. I need them split as one contains archive data of over 200,000 records and slows down the current data fetch on my website.
I split the tables and the web now works fine.
However some pages need data from both tables..
The query is as follows..
select distinct T2.season_id, A.name, A.decade from soc_res T2
join zo_soc_season_info A on T2.season_id = A.id
where ht = 200 or at = 200 order by season_id");
This fetches all unique seasons where team 200 had results..
How do i search from soc_res_arc table in same query?
I can't do two separate searches code relies on one data set further on.
I tried
select distinct T2.season_id, A.name, A.decade from soc_res_arc , soc_res T2
join zo_soc_season_info A on T2.season_id = A.id
where ht = 200 or at = 200 order by season_id");
but I get errors..
Any advise appreciated.

For example:
SELECT * FROM t1 LEFT JOIN (t2, t3, t4)
ON (t2.a=t1.a AND t3.b=t1.b AND t4.c=t1.c)
or
SELECT * FROM t1 LEFT JOIN (t2 CROSS JOIN t3 CROSS JOIN t4)
ON (t2.a=t1.a AND t3.b=t1.b AND t4.c=t1.c)

(select distinct T2.season_id, A.name, A.decade from soc_res_arc T2
join zo_soc_season_info A on T2.season_id = A.id
where ht = 200 or at = 200 order by season_id )
MySQL has an option for a MERGE table. It has a few caveats, but as your data structures are identical it should prove useful. Once the MERGE table is created, you simply query that MERGE table which performs your joining logically in the background.
