Creating dir/file using PHP...

I am using the following code for creating directory ($dir in $parent). It gives permission denied error, I have tried CHMOD also but with same result, how can we create directory or file thru PHP?????


echo "Create directory " . $dir . " in " . $parent;
if (mkdir($parent.$dir, 0666)){
     echo ("Directory created successfully");
}

I may have to be log on to the site as admin, if yes then how can I achieve that........

I think you dont have ther rights for changing mode operation so first tyr making the dir on the shell prompt if is make the file try to give the exact path nor through variables just a try

try the exec function

exec("mkdir $dir");

try:

mkdir ($parent.$dir, 0700);

did u try ?

mkdir ("/path/bla, 0700);

maybe your $parent and $dir don't have the right format ..

It said permission denied, not invalid format e.t.c, I am still looking for answer, exec("mkdir $dir") has same effect..........

You have to change access privileges of directory you want to write to. To do so, user that PHP is running(normally nobody) needs to be owner or group memeber of group which has writing access to that directory. You could do it with comand like this:
chown nobody nobody path/to/directory
