What version of PHP do you have installed?
If you are unsure create a PHP file with the following code in it and it will give you a whole host of information in your web browser:

Could you paste the few lines of code that come before and after "line 66", also including line 66 itself!

ok..below is the whole 'connect' function in db.inc file and the error in line 66.
My PHP version is 4.0.2

set to 'on' for mysql.allow_persistent, ok but is mysql enable ???
is your configure command looks something like that ?
'./configure' '--with-mysql=/usr/local/m
If you don't have --with-mysql it means that you cannot use mysql functions, so compil again PHP
with this option.

You must have PHP with MySQL support for these functions to work.
