Hi.

I want to validate some userinputs in my PHP script......

Have tried to have use the ereg() and preg_match() functions without getting them to work.

I want to use regular expressions....

Problem one.
I want to check a variable to see if some characters are different from
lowercase chars from a to z and numbers from 0 to 9. If some char in var is not in range I want to do something with var...
I would like a working example code on how this code would look like.

Problem two.
I want to check if a variable consist of some chars that is not valid.
That is, I want to see if the var contains i.e. one of these two chars... ";" or "#"
If it does I want to be able to do something with var...

I want to use regular expressions so only answers using regular expressions will get the points.

If you also know about a good place to find "How to use regular expressions in PHP..." on the www then links are most welcome....

have tried code like this
if (!ereg("[a-z]", $theFormVar){

Have tried entering different chars outside range a-z, but I cannot make it work...
