If there is no information in phpinfo() about MySQL then the version or compiled edition of PHP you have installed did not have MySQL support enabled. Did you compile it yourself? Try downloading a production release of PHP from www.php.net as all of their releases have built-in MySQL support. Or come back and let me know more about your setup.

hi! maybe you could go change this in the php.ini file located in /etc directory..
mysql.allow_persistent = On
maybe that would work... not really sure
