The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

 • The Grade of the Solution
 • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
 • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
 • The Number of Experts Contributing
 • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Pixel drawing...efficient way of seeing if a pixel is drawn

Asked by RandalBarnes in PHP Scripting Language

Tags: pixel

Hello. I am making an html calendar program with css absolute positioning. When I draw an object on the calendar, I want to be able to know which pixels were drawn.

The following code is what I had come up with at first, to make an array of pixels:

$screen = array(array());

for($x=0;$x<700;$x++)
{
    for($y=0;$y<500;$y++)
    {
        $screen[$x][$y] = 0;
    }
}

Then I would set the x,y with the pixel for each object that I draw. Problem is, I think this would be too slow and inefficient. It doesn't even load because of the error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 35 bytes).

What I want is to draw an object like this:

------------
------------
------------

Let's say I drew that at left: 10px, top: 50px, width: 30px; height: 20px;

And I want to check to see if these pixels are drawn

(17,55) // should return true
(5,5) // should return false

So basically I want some kind of function like this:

isPixelSet($x,$y,&$screen)
{
    //find out if pixel is set here
    return true;
    //or
    return false;
}

and something like this

setPixelRange($top,$left,$width,$height,&$screen)
{
    // i have no idea how to do this
}
