well you're lucky to get the points, since I just chanced upon working code, through following that link.
setcookie("userid" ,"",0,"/");
works for me.

Browse All TopicsHi Experts,
I am simply trying to use a cookie to keep login details, but have found that the logout is ineffective when using Firefox.
Since this is the unexpected way round I figure I'm doing something fundamentally wrong.
My code:
$users = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM users WHERE username='$f_username'");
$user = mysql_fetch_array($users);
if ($f_password != $user['password']) {
$userid = $user['id'];
setcookie("userid", $userid);
}
on logout action:
unset($user, $userid);
setcookie("userid", NULL);
----
I have also tried specifying dates in the past, the same dates on both setcookie()s, an empty string value, and combinations thereof.
What is your suggested method?
TIA, J

You probably need to stop the running session... _destroy
Looking at the example given in http://www.php.net/session
that could be someting like:
session_destroy(); // prepares to unset session variables as soon as the current script will stop
exit; //effectively stops the session and connexion
This will probably need that the calling page is an entry page as well...
