The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Sessions Browser Issues

Asked by redpoppy in PHP Scripting Language

Hello Experts,
I'm new to PHP and have been struggling with this issue for a couple of days.
I've cobbled together some routines for our clients to select brochures for downloading - I used a basic shopping cart sytem (phpCart) as the starting point. I've been developing it on XP/SP2, PHP 4.4.2, Apache 1.3.27 using Avant Browser (an IE clone). I got it to work perfectly on that configuration then tried it out on  IE6, Firefox 1.7 and Opera 8 - and it didn't work on any of them!

I've looked through the forums and tried a few things eg: adding "session_write_close();" before the "header" re-directs and checking the session variables with print_r displays - it appears that the session data is being transferred OK in Avant Browser but not in any of the others but I can't figure out why. I've also thought about the php.ini settings but thought it was unlikely to be these as it's working in 1 browser.

I don't really know what else to try at the moment and thought that maybe there's an obvious answer for someone who knows PHP?
I've put the test system up on the web at http://www.naturallymorocco.co.uk/phpCart/phpCart_shop.php, the routines are quite small. Thanks in advance.Start Free Trial
