Small problem with form fields while sending e-mail to submit comments

Tags: sending, while, email, form, fields
I have used a simple coment form for a website.
Everything is working fine, except that if a field contains \ in the input, the mail I recieve shows up \\ instead of one backslash.
this is the part of the code

<?php
$title=$_POST['title'];
$name=$_POST['first_name'];
$last_name=$_POST['last_name'];
$organization=$_POST['organization'];
$mailingaddress=$_POST['mailingaddress'];
$mailingaddress2=$_POST['mailingaddress2'];
$city=$_POST['city'];
$state=$_POST['state'];
$zip=$_POST['zip'];
$phone=$_POST['phone'];
$email_address=$_POST['email_address'];
$email_address2=$_POST['verify_email_address'];
$comments=$_POST['comments'];
$to="soniya@huestechnologies.com";
$header .= "MIME-Version: 1.0rn";
$header .= "Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1rn";
$from="$email_address";
$message="$title $name $last_name\n$organization\n$mailingaddress\n$mailingaddress2\n$city $state $zip\n$phone\n$email_address\n$email_address2\n\n$comments\n";
if(mail($to,"Comments From NIA MPU",$message,"From: $email_address\n")) {
echo "Thanks for your comments.";
} else {
echo "There was a problem sending the mail. Please check that you filled in the form correctly.";
}
?>

The form is working perfectly fine except this small problem, which the client has pointed out.
This problem is there ONLY if the user enters a backslash in any of the fields. The e-mail I get contains two backslash instead of one.
 Entering forward slash "/" does not change it at all.
Please help.

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.
