SESSIONS losing its value

im running PHP 5.1.4 on a W2K Server.  PHP is working fine except for my sessions.  When a user signs in, the session seems to register fine, but if after a certain period of inactivity, the session will lose is value?

I do not have a timeout implemented to destroy the session so im confused?  in my php.ini file under C:\winnt\php.ini the session section of the file is as follows:
