The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Getting image details from an uploaded image file...

Asked by chookisa in PHP Scripting Language

Tags: , , ,

hello,

ive had to make a small php script for my company's intranet that allows the media department to upload images.
as im a php newbie, i made a basic script that uploads the image, renames it and sends it to a folder, displays a link to the image that the user can either use in an img src  tag or send the link to a colleague.

now i need to give them the option to make the image public on the intranet but also display the image details:
thumbnail
dimensions eg 800x600
size eg 400k
original name
date uploaded
the option of making it public or keeping it private as it is now  - i figure now a tick box

and soon the option of showing whos uploaded it (but thats another question in itself)

is this even possible with a script? the user shouldnt have to input any of these details themselves, obviously thier time is more important than having to tick a few extra boxes.. ;-)
they essentially want the users to be able to view all then filter down thier results by dimension primarily then dates, but i presume that will be just a simple SELECT - the extra info is my headache at the moment
i've been told that i must keep my original form design - browse & upload

my table in the db has like 3 entries, a primary key, file name and a date as it is so i can just use $print>date for the date on the results page

if anyone can point me in the right direction with advice or links to some tutorials - i will be forever ingratiatedStart Free Trial
