The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

use php to either change URL of calling html file

Asked by the_gentile in PHP Scripting Language

Tags: , , ,

Simplified example:

index.html has a form which GET submits to program.php.

i want program.php to then append some info to the URL of index.html, so it will look like this: index.html?info=asdfasdf

then some javascript in index.html will look at it's URL and get the info and do what i want.

what i'm trying to do is actually a lot more complicated. but i know how to do everything except make PHP alter the URL of the HTML page that submitted to it. if the above example is too simple, here's a more detailed explanation of what i'm actually doing--i need to know how do to step #5.

the More Complicated version:

index.html has a form with <input name=username>. it also has an iFrame called iframe.html.

1. on index.html, a user enters his name "bubba" in the name text field.
2. index.html uses javascript to send var name = "bubba" to iframe.html.
3. iframe.html GET posts to program.php : iframe.html?name='bubba'
4. program.php calculates some stuff
5. program.php returns a result of either "submitTo=login1" or "submitTo=login2" in the url of iframe.html: iframe.html?name=bubba&submitTo=login1.
6. iframe.html looks at it's url, makes the javascript variables name = "bubba"; and submitTo = "login1";. It sends these javascript variables to index.html
7. index.html POST submits to login1.php.

so the question is this: how do i get the php to send info to the URL?  (step 5)Start Free Trial
