Image uploading to databse then pull into <img> tag

I have been searching google and EE for image upload tutorials, using db to store the location of the file on my server.

This probably do able with PHP and some SQL, I know you can do image uploading but I havent seen one with databaes and SQL.

The images could be stored on a directory called something like images/pets/

Then pull it then print it in:

<img src="$XX"></img>

Something like that, I havent found one yet. Can anyone get me off to the right foot. I know on my add.php page I would have:

<input type="file" name="image">

Then my process-add.php

$image = $_POST['image'];

Would that work and is that do able?
