You can grab the php-mcrypt from http://mirror.centos.org/c
yeah useful for me too. I have been a wamp (using XAMPP and old custom windows installation) user and no I moved to linux installed on my own PC rather than just my remote severs. I had to setup lampp on my local linux server and I use
yum install php-m*
and it fixed the mbstring thing and also this mcrypt thing for me. Its cool. Thanks for sharing this information.
