The Solution Rating System

Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. How does this 18 year old craker get my IP in Cam Frog without data exchange?

I was in a chat room on camfrog.com, and this 18 year old dude got my IP address without me exchanging files with him or anything.  How can he do that?  How does he do it?  And, how can I prevent it?  It doesn't seem to be a big secret if some cracker 18, year old kid can do it, you know?  I feel stupid asking, because I am certified myself.  But, I was always under the impression that an IP can only be gotten through exchange of information only if using a home PC/MAC client.  Also, I might add this kid was sending people viruses and everything.  I already know how trojans work, about networking (I'm certified), etc... But, how does this total dork get people's IPs in a room?  Tell me how he does it!  Then I'll go from there.  Thanks!
