The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

PHP Mulitple Page form

Asked by chuckbeats in PHP Scripting Language, PHP and Databases

I have an 8 page form that I need to be able to fill out and populate a database in php? The form is to a niche group - so I'm thinking I will use css / tables with fixed text sizes etc, for layout purposes. The paper form equivelant is 8 pages, and the program should be as well.
In total the form has 4 pages of pure checkbox sections with about 500+ checkboxes in 30+ groups.

I obviously need to remember these values as they navigate through the pages.  I built a smaller prototype a while ago, but it was pretty cumbersome - storing all values in session arrays. This time, I expect to store a session ID and then store variables in the database. In the first version, I also had a lot of this going on to remember which checkboxes were checked etc:

<?php if (in_array('18',$some_array)) print ("Checked=\"checked\""); ?>

Any suggestions, pre-existing classes, page movement suggestions etc, to help this task be less painful.

Is the way I plan to handle sessions the way to go? Should I have a centralized page that loads templates based on a referring page or form value (so they could jump from page 5 to 2 for example).

Any tips will be greatly appreciated and awarded accordingly.

Thanks in advance
