Connect to MSSQL 2005 using PHP on Ubuntu

Hello,

I'm using the code attached to connect to MSSQL 2005 from my ubuntu 7.10.

I was looking for ways to do that I found a way that requires freeds-dev, so I installed.

 sudo apt-get install freetds-dev

Before and after installing it, I'm still unable to connect to the server, or at least that's how it looks.

When I ran the script, all I got was Testing...I didn't get connected to a db nor connection failed, I didn't get even the test (from the last echo statement).

This is my first time to connect to MSSQL, I really appreciate your help on what went wrong?what should I do to fix it? Best practicies in this regard.
