I'm using this example : http://www.w3schools.com/PHP/php_secure_mail.asp on PHP 5.0.5

but i igot an error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function filter_var() in testemail.php.

any expert here could point out where is the error? could filter_var() be used on PHP 5.0.5?
