The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not?   • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Regexp help

I have som old HTML which I need to "tidy" up with a preg_replace. The problem is that I have a lot of <li> tags which doesn't have a closing tag. So I need to replace stuff like

<ul>
   <li>List item 1
   <li>List item 2
    <li><p>List item 3</p>
    <li>List item 4</li>
</ul>

with

<ul>
   <li>List item 1</li>
   <li>List item 2</li>
    <li><p>List item 3</p></li>
    <li>List item 4</li>
</ul>

I have attached the code I have been testing with.

However, this code doesn't work properly. It fixes some of the <li>Text tags, but it seems that it doesn't fix them all. It also fails to fix lines like <li><p>Text</p>, i.e. <li> tags with sub html elements.
