The Solution Rating System

  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Posting the current directory of the current loaded page

Hi guys,

Please correct me if im wrong, but whatever php page is loaded, will the following return the directory of where that php page is located on disk?

dirname(__FILE__)

What im trying to do is the following:

php file -----------> post its directory path in a variable to a perl file

1) php file has an upload facitlity
2) the action on the form is to post to a cgi file

what im trying to do is to change the set "save" directory variable in the cgi file to whatever PHP page has submitted to it in real time

by that i mean....

1) php page A

2) cgi file has the save directory variable set to something other than the directory where php pageA is located.

but what i want is upon page load of php page A, and BEFORE the user has a chance to upload, for the phpA page to somehow communicate with this cgi file and update its save directory variable to point to the directory in which phpA is located.

I hope this makes sense.

The cgi file is called  file-upload.cgi, and in it is the following variable that i need to update whenever a php page gets loaded.
That is, whatever php page it is, and before any uploads get submitted from that php page, the save directory needs to be defined in the cgi file to point to that directory where that php  page in question is located.

$SAVE_DIRECTORY = "/var/www/html/simeswiki/uploader";

Guys i do have another question on this so im sorry, but this is one i would really like to knock on the head.

Any help greatly appreciated.
