The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Help with arrays and mysql datasets

Asked by psimation in PHP Scripting Language

Hi

I'm trying to step through a mysql query dataset and match each row to dates in an array, and if they match, make basic calculations and assign the values back to an array.

So, I have $rangearray[] that contains my date selection in "YYY-MM-DD" format stepping in one day steps.

I do my query within the same date range.

So, my query resultset can contain any number of rows for each given date in the date range - iow, there can be more than one row in the resultset for "2008-09-09" for instance, and then none for "2008-09-08" for instance.

So the "logic" behind what I'm trying to do is like this:

Step through the $date_range array with a foreach, and for each date value, check to see:
a) how many rows in the query resultset matches this date
b) add up all the values of a speciffic collumn in the resultset
c) assign these two values to two arrays ( or "0" if no rows match)

So that after the stepping through is completed, I will have two new arrays with the same count as the original $date_range array.

My problem is I don't know what the most efficient way is to do this: a foreach with the while loop stepping through the mysql results nested inside, or first running through the while loop of the query results and then creating an array of that and THEN compare the two arrays with each other?
