Question

How to replace Quotes so they don't interrupt my code.

I know this issue has been covered more than any other probably, but I've looked around the site for a bit, but I couldn't find how to solve my own issue.
 I've got a line of code, and in the middle I have a PHP variable. This variable is taken from a database and most often contains quotes (double and single.) So as you can imagine it's totally disrupting my code, and I need those quotes as they are used as measures (inches and feet).  I've attached the code...

Any help would be appreciated!

using string replace or preg/ereg replace you can easily replace the single or double quote into &quot; or &#39;

    $variable_with_quotes = "12'5\"";
    $variable_with_quotes = preg_replace('/"/',"&quot;", $variable_with_quotes); ## replace double quote
    $variable_with_quotes = preg_replace("/'/","&#39;", $variable_with_quotes); ## replace single quote
