Simple PHP Message Board Script

Hi,

Can any one recommend a good php message/comment board scrript??

The scenario is as follows.

People go to a sailing school and learn to be a sailing instructor.

On this particular page I want for them, once they have finished their course to be able to esentially advertise themselves on the webpage.

So its really just a comment script. There's no need for all the fancy features of a forum.

My issue is that all comment scripts I have found only allow say a name, email and comment.

Are there any good easy customizable scripts out there so I can easily add the following fields.

Name, Lesson Type, Date, Boat Knowledge, Communications Skills, People Skills, Presentation, Comments.

Also the script would have to allow for a moderator/admin to be able to delete/filter posts that are inappropriate.

Any suggestions would be fantastic.

What you really want is a profiel script that also has the function of posting comments. What you can do is try one of the following cms systems. They are able to load lots of modules that can interact with eachother:

Hi sstad,

That's exactly what I want is a comment script. Ideally in PHP as I have intermediate knowledge of PHP.

I also want to be able to customise the script to be able to add some custom fields to the comment script as the ones I have found only have name, email & comment.

However, a CMS system is too advanced for what I want. I'm just looking for something simple to integrate into an existing site, and that is relitavly easy to customize/adjust.

If you could recommend any good comment scripts that would be great.

A cms like "CMS Made Simple" is not that hard to implement. But there are other solutions to this.

Profile Manager Premium is software written for what you want but is costs money. It can be fount here http://www.interlogy.com/products/pmpre/. It is exactly what you want but for a price.

PHPIzabi is open-source community software that enables you to do all these things. It has an admin and people can register in it. It has loads of modules in it.

In my opinion there isn't a script that lets you create profiles for users, leave comments and has an admin panel all in one without creating your own or using existing software or let a freelancer create the application.

I would give PHPIzabi a try if I were you.

Ah-ha!

I found exactly what I was looking for.

A simple guestbook script. A comment script would've been able to achieve the same thing but this was a nice solution.

With a little bit of editing of a few files I was able to add my own fields to the submission form.

Thank you sstad. I took a look at PHPIzabi, but once again it was too complex for the job at hand. I just wanted something simple, neat, and easy enough to modify.
