Question

Need help with this simply php script

I wrote this broken php script to work on my wordpress blog. You can see it on the top right. When user logged in it shows one thing when they aren't it shows another.
right now it only changes the login/logout button and does not display guest or remoove the my account link and replace it with register link.

I also want the avatar removed if you are not logged in..please help

you refer to $post->current_user and $current_user and $current_user->user_login are these all set?
Try changing
if ( isset($current_user) )
to
if ( isset($post->current_user) )

moved avatar line inside if statment

moved time outside if statement so it only appears once.

also used echo commands rather than switch in and out of php / html modes

Looks great but it's still not working 100%. You can test it with username test and password test at www.caiapfas.com

The only thing changing is the login/logout link which is dynamic and works on wordpress. Currentuser is already set. Once you login you'll see it says welcome test.

that means that
if ( isset($current_user) )
is always true, even when there is no user logged in (it's probably set to null, ie "")

how about this, change the line to

if ($current_user->user_login != "" )

There might be a boolean flag in current_user that is set when a user is logged in. do you have the structure of the current_user class?
