Looking for working example of accessing free stock quote service with PHP/NUSoap

A small working code snippet would be nice. Doesn't have to be real time, just working.
I've found this service:
http://www.webservicex.net/WS/WSDetails.aspx?CATID=2&WSID=9
when I attempt to access it with this code:
$client=new soapclient("http://www.webservicex.net/stockquote.asmx?WSDL", true);
$param=array('symbol'=> $symbol);
echo $client->call('GetQuote', $param);
I seem to be getting an invalid params error.
So a bonus if anyone can find the error in the above code as well.

Can you use NuSOAP?
Can be doiwnloaded here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/nusoap/

This thread http://old.nabble.com/WSDL-error-can-someone-help-td14985983.html seems to indicate some problem with PHP5 soap and exactly the service you are using.

I managed to get the service call working using nusoap.
