I am unable unable to connect to an open LDAP Server via PHP's LDAP functionality (or PEAR LDAP2). Code is below. I am receiving the same error "Unable to bind to server: Can't contact LDAP server" whether on W2K3/IIS or Linux/Apache. I have seen references to compiling with OpenLDAP, etc. I have run phpinfo() and have the LDAP section so I know that LDAP functionality is available on both servers (also, the calls to the functions don't throw errors). I have also seen references to ldap.conf file. I believe I am missing some sort of configuration on the server itself. Thanks for any help (been very frustrating).

That I think is the problem. What is the php_ldap module? I have un-commented the php_ldap.dll extension line in the .ini and (of course) restarted Apache. Do I have to install anything separately? As I said, php is configured for ldap (as it shows it's supported in the system info generated by phpinfo()). I'm wondering if I am missing something.
If it is showing in phpinfo then it should be OK, but there may be dependencies that are not enabled. Have a look at this and see if it helps

Ironically, Linux scores better than Windows for the installation routine on this (there's a sentence I never thought I'd type!) as it automatically resolves the dependencies. Since I don't use Windows for anything I can't really help much more on Windows dependent issues, but there appears to be no problem with the PHP code you posted.

This code works OK for me. When I ran it it said
User was bound to LDAP Server
Have you installed the php_ldap module and restarted Apache?
