What mail server are you using? Postscript (supported) or sendmail (legacy)?

on the webserver? or for my organization we are using exchange...I am REALLY new at web stuff..are you saying i need to install some type of mail server on my 2003 web server?

by: scifikillrPosted on 2009-11-03 at 13:39:39ID: 25734080

Your website is hosted on a server somewhere. That server is responsible for sending out mail based on the contact form you have in place (or should be).

As such, the server would need to have an application installed that can send mail.

by: jasonmichelPosted on 2009-11-03 at 13:44:48ID: 25734144

we host our website internally, can we use exchange somehow?  its on a diff server, but the recipients of the mail are internal users. If not, what would you recommend

Check if your mail system has the subject and sender email of the form,It can be hidden..
I would redo it if none of the answers everyone gave you didnt work..

With IIS, you need to specify an SMTP server.

You can do this in your php.ini file, or inline with the following PHP code:

ini_set('SMTP', '[smtp server]');

where [smtp server] is the name of your smtp server.

by: jasonmichelPosted on 2009-11-04 at 06:10:10ID: 25739406

ok on the php.ini i have

[mail function]
; For Win32 only.
SMTP = 192.168.57.10
smtp_port = 25

; For Win32 only.
;sendmail_from = sales@micro-works.com

also attaching the php script i am having the form post to, see if anything looks funny to people who know..lol

<?php

$my_email = "jason.michel@micro-works.com";

/*

Enter the continue link to offer the user after the form is sent. If you do not change this, your visitor will be given a continue link to your homepage.

If you do change it, remove the "/" symbol below and replace with the name of the page to link to, eg: "mypage.htm" or "http://www.elsewhere.com/page.htm"

*/

$continue = "/";

/*

Step 3:

Save this file (FormToEmail.php) and upload it together with your webpage containing the form to your webspace. IMPORTANT - The file name is case sensitive! You must save it exactly as it is named above! Do not put this script in your cgi-bin directory (folder) it may not work from there.

THAT'S IT, FINISHED!

You do not need to make any changes below this line.

ok, i got it working, the only thing is  the message that comes in doesn't have anything in the sender field.  It uses the subject i put in, but the sender field is empty, how can I have it appear to be sent from a specific email address?

by: scifikillrPosted on 2009-11-04 at 07:06:36ID: 25740029

You have to remove the semicolon from you previously posted php.ini settings for "sendmail_from", save the file, and restart you webserver (apache/IIS)
