Create phpbb (3.0) users via code?

Hi all. I just want to know the bare minimum I need to do to create user accounts in phpbb v. 3.0 from an existing SQL database (asp.net membership system). It'll be something along the lines of "insert into users..." and the code used will NOT be php! Looking around it seems I may have some issues with the password hashes... I think the passwords on my SQL database (aspnet_membership) are md5.

Seems like this is something that must have been done before and cannot be that complex? All I need to know is what fields to populate on the mysql users table (or any other tables?) and how to generate the hash and then I'm good to go...?
