I am attempting to align some text to the left of a table cell and some other text to the right of the table cell.
Important: all of the text must be on the same line. The reason for this is because I am using an image for the background of a cell and need it spanned across all five columns in order to get the correct effect.
here is my code for the cell:
<tr><td colspan="5" background="images/bg-bar.
FYI: class 'header' and 'header2' are identical CSS entries except 'header' aligns to the left and 'header2' aligns to the right.
Looked in many places and can't find it anywhere. Not sure if its even possible for that matter.

or throw your class=header in the td cell for your alignment, up to you.

Remember to add cellspacing=0 and cellpadding=0 while defining the table

Try it this way. Yes I know the declaration order looks wrong but the float might not work with out it. If that does not do it you might have to make it a div instead:
