The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Look at browser side for the generated html page source and you will see that you miss something, for example one forward slash: /

03.03.2008 at 02:16PM PST, ID: 21036313
I modifed the code.  I added some <cfoutput> tags so you can see what the variables are storing.  If I copy the output to the browser it will display the image.  Below is the modified code.

<cfquery name="image" datasource="security">
select * from photo
where photoid="2"
</cfquery>
<cfset location="#image.location#">
<cfset imagefile="#image.filename#">
<img src="#location##imagefile#" />
<cfoutput>#location##imagefile#</cfoutput>

Attached is the output

you need to put the cfoutput around the image tag also

<cfquery name="image" datasource="security">
select * from photo
where photoid="2"
</cfquery>
<cfset location="#image.location#">
<cfset imagefile="#image.filename#">
<cfoutput>
<img src="#location##imagefile#" />
#location##imagefile#</cfoutput>

Web server can server ONLY files located below C:\ColdFusion8\wwwroot  folder.
So what you have to do is to creater server maping.
Open CF Administrator below ServerSettings->Mappings
and create this maping:
Logical Path:    /images
Directory Path :  C:\

Then change your CFML page source to use that directory:
<img src="/images/#imagefile#" />

Where should I be saving the photos.

I just created a directory called photos under c:\coldfusion8\wwwroot\mysite\photos\

When I save the location of the image how should I save it.  I obviously don't want to use c: in a internet application.

You have to have a physical path for store location and a web server relative path for image display.
The img relative path is relative to web server root and that is c:\coldfusion8\wwwroot\

So your image needs to get this:
<img src="/mysite/photos/IMG00044.jpg" >

And the file path of displayed image on server needs to be:
c:\coldfusion8\wwwroot\mysite\photos\IMG00044.jpg

You see?

Wow! Thanks Jester. It is doing good at the moment to me. I was under fire and need a new start now :)

OK, let us assume you have deleted all old "destination" paths from your database and all new destination in the database look like this:
c:\coldfusion8\wwwroot\mysite\photos\someimage.jpg

Then you can do this:

<cfset location="#Replace(ReplaceNoCase(image.location,ExpandPath("/"),"/"),"\","/","all")#">
<cfset imagefile="#image.filename#">

<cfoutput>
#location#<br>
#imagefile#<br>

<img src="#location##imagefile#" />

i appreciate the points but i think you should reopen this and reassign the points, zvonko provided more of a solution than what you have selected from me, you can reopen the question by going here, http://www.experts-exchange.com/Community_Support/General/,  and posting for the moderators to reopen, i think it would be more along the lines of 450/50 Zvonko/Jester
